Independent Visitors and Mentoring Service
If you are a Looked After Child aged 8-18 who is under the care of Blackburn with Darwen's Social Care you are eligible to access an Independent Visitor (IV). An IV is someone who will come to see you on a regular basis and who you can do fun activities with - that YOU get to choose! The point of an IV is to be a person you can not only have fun with but also to be someone you can talk to and spend quality time with.
If you are on a Child Protection or Child in Need plan and are aged 8-18 you may be eligible to access our mentoring service. The mentoring service aims to help improve young peoples confidence, self esteem and social skills. The volunteer mentor will visit you regularly for around 9-12 months. Just like with the IV service, you will be able to do fun things together and spend quality time together.
Anyone can refer you to the service, you can even do it yourself!
If you want some more information about the services we would be happy to come and chat to you about them as well!
(While the service is based in Preston we operate across all of Blackburn with Darwen and surrounding areas).
