How we do this

Helping local groups to develop and grow

Our staff offer support to community and voluntary groups. We work with them to identify the support they need in order to grow and have impact within their communities. We work with them to identify gaps and to source resources whether this in in the form of local community assets – people, equipment, venues etc, or funding.

Leading on Volunteering

Community CVS is the nationally accredited Volunteer Centre for the borough.

Our programmes include Fast 4wd, Inclusive Volunteering, Community Links, SENDIASS and joint work with VOICE.

Skills, Funding and Advice

Community CVS staff provide advice to individual community and voluntary groups on constitutional, financial, organisational and legal issues.

We produce a regular bulletin containing useful information about community events, training, new legislation, volunteering opportunities and funding sources.

We are currently developing a knowledge bank for groups to source on-line resources and training.

Building networks and bringing people together

Community CVS brings voluntary and community groups and members of the community together to discuss issues of common concern, brings vulnerable individuals together for peer support, encourages a collaborative approach to asset based community development.

The Boulevard Centre is an eco-friendly, purpose-built Conference and Meeting venue conveniently located in the centre of Blackburn, with the rail/bus interchange on the doorstep & a selection of parking facilities nearby.

With excellent IT facilities, superb catering & a friendly welcome, the Boulevard Centre is the perfect venue for your next event.

We have rooms available for hire: a Conference Room and two small Meeting Rooms.

The Conference Room is available to hire on a daily, half-daily or evening basis and can comfortably accommodate up to 70 delegates.

The room can be configured in a variety of layouts:

Theatre (up to 70 delegates)
Boardroom (up to 30)
Café (up to 40)
Other layouts are also available.

We also have two meeting rooms which are ideal for one-to-ones and small groups. Situated on the ground floor, the Meeting Rooms can comfortably accommodate 4 people and are close to the Reception area.

Access to a computer is available on request in one of the rooms.
