Blackburn & Darwen District Blind Society
Blackburn & Darwen District Blind Society is a local society providing a number of services that support people in the community who are partially sighted, blind and may often have other disabilities.
They offer a phone befriending service, provide information advise and signpost where needed via use of supporting tools i.e. Audio, Braille, Large print, and they sell various equipment to support visual needs.
They loan Perkins Braille machines to registered blind or visually impaired residents for a small quarterly charge.
They offer a Vision-loss service to provide advice and information.
They host coffee morning two days a month, and hold specialist talks and equipment demonstrations.
They also run a varied number of events and outings for our blind or visually impaired members.
