Deaf Apprentices

Are you deaf and 16-24 years old? Do you want to take responsibility of your own personal development? Would you like a job where you can earn money, study and gain skills and experience at the same time without losing your benefits? Lancashrie Deaf Service (LDS) welcomes young deaf people to become our apprentices.

Our apprentices need to be enthusiastic and willing to work in teams under various roles within LDS and its enterprises. You will also need to attend regular training sessions at college where you will gain NVQ qualifications. You will be paid a monthly wage.

At the moment we have apprentices working as Catering Assistants at Courthouse Restaurant, Early Years Practitioners at Kings Nursery, General Maintenance staff at Kings Court Conference Centre and Administrative Assistants at LDS offices. If you have any other interests, do let us know and we’ll try to meet your needs.

LDS also offers in-house training for all apprentices. You will complete a ‘Deaf Issues in the Workplace’ course to get a clear picture of what working life means for you and for your employer. If you come from a poor education background and struggle with subjects such as English and maths, our deaf tutors will help you to brush up your skills and catch up with your education.

After completing the training programme, job opportunities could be available at the Courthouse Restaurant, Kings Court,  or elsewhere. All of these are located at King Street in Blackburn, Lancashire.

Please contact Clare Stocks and ask for an application form. All applicants will be invited to an interview. We are looking forward to hearing from you.
