Young person's Advocacy service
Barnardo's is commissioned to provide the statutory advocacy for children and young people in Blackburn and Darwen on behalf of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council.
We are able to provide the service within a 30 mile radius of the general Blackburn area. If a Blackburn with Darwen young person lives outside of this area we can arrange for a local service to provide advocacy support.
Upon receipt of a new advocacy referral a trained advocate will arrange to visit the child or young person within 7 days to discuss their worries and concerns and will work with the young person to formulate an action plan and work to achieve positive outcomes.
We will work with the young person to ensure that their voice is heard in decisions that are made about them and that their wishes and feelings are respected. We can also support young people in any meetings that they have to attend and can support them to make complaints if necessary.
