Over the past few months a team from the NDTi (National Development Team for Inclusion) have reviewed the provision (local offer) of services available to children, young people and their families who, due to varying levels of Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) need additional support to achieve their potential as they grow, learn and prepare for adulthood.
The team from NDTi met with children, young people and their families to hear their opinions:
- what is working well
- what could do with improving
- what needs to happen next
On 23rd May almost 100 professionals from across the range of services met together to hear the Key Findings of the Review. The meeting also provided a much needed opportunity for those who attended to meet with professionals from other sectors and to work together, sharing ideas about how we can now best plan for what needs to happen next.
This event was complimented by a Public event on the 7th July at Blackburn Central Library where families of children and young people with SEND joined us to hear the findings of the Review and to help us plan our next steps.
The Report is due to be published early in September and will be followed by opportunities for professionals and families to work together to plan our next steps.
