Disabled Facilities Grant
The Disabled Facilities Grant is allocated to provide a child or young person with a physical disability, better freedom of movement into and around their home. This is provided following an assessment of need, and can provide access to essential facilities and/or equipment to help their physical needs to be met.
If you are a parent or carer of a child or young person aged 0-19 years (and still in Education), you can apply for a Disabled Facilities Grant towards the cost of adaptations, facilities and specialist equipment such as hoists.
The Grant is given to Local councils to support young people to live at home with greater access and mobility and independence.
The maximum limit for the Grant is £30,000. Application is via referral to Children's Social Care DFG Coordinator or via your child's Occupational Therapist. An assessment is then carried out by an Occupational Therapist in relation to the required need.
