- Work avoidance or refusal to co-operate
- Rejecting or challenging adult authority
- Attention (attachment seeking)
- Venting emotions or a loss of control
- Difficulties regulating emotions
- Problems coping with unstructured time e.g. break or lunchtimes or for younger children struggling to manage with continuous provision
- Hurting other children
- Hiding
- Running away, escaping
- Not managing relationships with peers
- Not managing relationships with adults
- Lack of emotion
- Finds it hard to accept changes in routine or environment
- Struggles with transitioning from one task to another
- Poor attention and listening, and struggling to access group learning
- Challenging behaviour and difficulties with sharing and/or interacting with peers
- Difficulty following rules
- Withdrawn, isolates self from peers and staff
- Can show aggression both physically and verbally to staff and peers.
- Unable to maintain cooperative relationships with staff
- Struggles to manage emotions which can lead to angry outbursts
- Can rarely complete a task without support

Yes. Your child’s special educational needs coordinator (SENCO) should phone the SEMH Drop- In session which is held every Monday 2-4pm to discuss possible referrals.

The special education needs coordinator (SENCO) in your child’s school can refer into our team. Your SENCO should be the first point of contact to find out how to access the service.
